The series follows presenter Emma Willis as she trains and works four shifts a week for three months on a busy maternity ward as a Maternity Care Assistant, discovering first-hand what makes it one of the toughest, but most rewarding careers.

Nariva Creative developed the original series with Firecracker Films - and was also responsible for initial access negotiations with NHS trusts.

Series One quickly became a hit among viewers and was swiftly recommissioned. There have since been multiple series and specials.

Status: Series 1 broadcast on W (October 2018). Series 2 in August 2019. Series 3 in February 2021. Series 4 in September 2022.
